The city of Kentwood is located directly southeast of the city of Grand Rapids. It was chartered in 1967

and has a Mayor-Manager type of government. The 2000 census states the population at 45,255 with more than

half under the age of 25.

 

Kentwood is a thriving suburb of Grand Rapids with a growing school system Kentwood Public Schools,

numerous businesses, large and small, and a constantly expanding suburban landscape. Kentwood boasts 15 city

parks, is right next door to Gerald R Ford International Airport, and has numerous shopping districts. The city government

puts out a newsletter with the latest happenings and activities going on in Kentwood.
